Coping With Anxiety

Writer's picture: Christy Callahan, PMHNP-BC, NPChristy Callahan, PMHNP-BC, NP

Whether we are diagnosed with an anxiety disorder or not, our anxiety will always come and go. Breathing techniques can bring them down to a manageable level at times when our anxiety levels are high. This technique can be extremely useful if we start to feel detached, breathless or panicked. This technique is also helpful for those of us who experience shutdowns, flashbacks, and/or dissociation. Yoga, mindfulness and meditation are also things that lots of people find very helpful. Take a few seconds and breathe to get everything back in balance. It really works!
